We are extremely excited to have officially celebrated the opening of our new Inclusive and Naturalized Playground Project together!
It has been interesting and exciting navigating the past three years and it has truly taken the contributions of the whole community to get us to this point. Your financial and time commitments, words of encouragement, and pure excitement have continually pushed this project forward. Thank you!
We would like to thank and recognize our lead donors and grantors:
- Allardyce Bower Foundation
- Government of Alberta – Community Facilities Enhancement Program
- Parks Foundation Calgary
- Mini Dig Corp.
- Pre-Kindergarten Educational Services
- Montessori Alternative Public School Society
- Miter Renovations and Design
- Sunbelt Rentals
All donations and contributions made to our project, big or small, are so valued. It was through your generosity that we were able to accomplish such a lofty goal. Thank you!
We also extend our gratitude to our vendors BDI Play Designs and Year Round Landscape for helping us to turn our dreams into a beautiful reality.
Thank you to TC Energy, Carmacks Enterprises, and PCL Construction for supporting us with your volunteers and to everyone in our community who came out to volunteer or feed our volunteers during build week. We’re also grateful to the Calgary Foundation and the City of Calgary’s Ward Community Event Fund for supporting our build week and opening celebration.
We are so appreciative of the support, guidance, and enthusiasm we have received from the CJP staff, teachers, students, and administration over the past few years. We loved seeing how you incorporated this project into classroom learning and especially the pictures of you all enjoying the playground!
The advice and recommendations that we received from Sean Crump of Universal Access, and Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada were crucial during the planning stages of the playground. We are proud to have been able to incorporate many of their suggestions to make the playground fun for those of all abilities.
Lastly, we need to acknowledge the blood, sweat and tears put into this project by the Playground Committee: Lindsay, Susan, Martina, Candace, Amy, Melisa, Todd, Kevin, Farah, Zoe, Meagan, Marcia and Shannon. It is through your dedication and vision that we accomplished all of this!
Over the past three years, our driving force was imagining the potential for the playground and Discovery Garden as a place for us to gather and connect as a community. Seeing everyone celebrate and enjoy the space is everything we had hoped for and more. We look forward to playing and connecting with you all for many years to come!
